Week 15 of 2025

One of the greatest tragedies we face today is that many do not believe in miracles. Throughout history, we have used theories in an attempt to eliminate those mysteries and the wonders of God—miracles wrought by true works of God. In addition, our insecurities and fears boost our pride and arrogance so that we believe we have somehow evolved intellectually to the point that we can reason, analyze, or use science to understand and explain everything. We have created boundaries that God must fit within so He will be acceptable in our created reality.

Those mysteries and miracles of God are a part of the very core belief, through faith, that we need to hold to in order to know the true God. It is through those mysteries that we understand the power of God in the creation of everything—each person, time, or thing is created for a specific and separate purpose; the mystery, or the redemptive work through Jesus; and the mystery through the Spirit for the ability to see others through the eyes of grace, love, and forgiveness. Our humble acceptance of these mysteries provides us the ability not only to receive grace ourselves but also to extend it to others. The denial of a power greater than ourselves—a power [God] that attains mysteries we will never understand—keeps us from truly knowing, receiving, or giving grace.

Why is it so hard to allow ourselves grace, let alone others? What are we holding onto?
